Shameless self promotion

Hello there gang!

Been a while since I last posted to this blog, but I’ll try to be more regular in the future.  I wanted to take this time to officially announce the launch of my next startup: http://www.PriceDrip.com.  Please check it out, register for free, tell your friends, but most importantly.. GIVE ME FEEDBACK!  You can leave me comments here or get in touch with me directly (you know how).

PriceDrip is actually a revolutionary new way to shop. It’s an auction site for brand new items, but instead of watching the price go up constantly, you watch it fall-er, drip!  You do have to pay to bid though and this is partially to ensure serious buyers use the site and not just casual browsers.  Give it a whirl, win an auction today.

Now for all you entrepreneurs out there, a few important points.  First, I got this entire thing up and running in about 4 months, but  had to work EVERY day at it.  I did 98% of the progamming myself and hired a few contractors along the way.  I’m now in the marketing stage, which means setting up my banners, ads, etc ad testing it.  Once I know what works, I crank up the marketing dollars and zoom zoom zoom!

So please, provide any feedback that you may have below.  I don’t care if it’s good or bad or if you love the idea or hate the idea.  Just be honest!

The power of a great DEMO

The power of a great demo can fool even in the most exacting eye into believing he saw Jesus in the Shroud of Turin. If you are pitching for press, investors or just your friends, don’t just send them to a dinky old site and tell them to run amok. Walk them through the beauty of your creation, weave the story of its creation into the fabric of their experience. The power of a great demo must not be downplayed. It is what gets people excited, builds buzz and makes people part with their money. So next time some engineers says just give it to him – tell him no and instead make your demo makes sweet love with the screen. Some people truly understand this and they are the great promoters of our time. Steve Jobs comes to mind. With him, its not a demo, his products are an extension of him, whenever Apple launches a product, the entire company becomes a walking demo until the next product comes along. When the iPhone launched, all people thought when they thought Apple was iPhone. The company was a walking slick silvery demo for their newest invention. Paradoxically, I remember a few years ago Bill Gates demo’ing I believe it was Windows CE – and it crashed – thus crushing the already disillusioned faith of the masses that MSFT may actually create a sexy working mobile product. And you know what – that led the way for Jobs to create the iPhone. Successful DEMO’s breed confidence and awe. Do you want be looked at with a sense of awe – or foreboding?
