| Hey everyone,
I was just asked by a friend for ideas on how to grow an event series to be both the size and quality desired. Here's a couple of tricks.
1) Your first event should be free and be out there with a lot of people. The goal of the event is not to get press but to build a track record. As long as half way decent people show, you're good. It doesn't need to be amazing just good enough. The important thing is to actually have event.
2) Get a core group of 10 people. Get 10 great people, personally invite them. After they come to an event, follow up individually and then ask each of them to invite 2-3 quality people. Eventually it will spread.
3) By your 3rd event you want to be throwing good events that people like. Size doesnt matter. Smaller could actually be better as long as its good.
4) Do not have them too often, monthly events get tired, every other month or quarterly are easier to swallow.
5) Get a "sponsor" that gives you credibility. Someone beyond reproach that everyone knows that you can joke about sponsoring your group. Their sponsorship will give you credibility.
6) Get quotes from people that are well known that attended your event. Get 3 solid quotes and post them in your invite
Now your gold, dog. |
